Time of the Broken Eagle

— Book One —

TWELVE YOUNG ADULTS from juvenile detention enter a program to restart their lives. Some connect immediately with the beauty of the natural world, helping wounded wildlife in the animal rehab clinic, and the outdoor survival training. Others conceal illegal agendas.

Sahm, a young Tibetan yogi who fled kidnapping in the Himalayas wakes on the night of Losar (Tibetan New Year), thinking he hears his grandfather calling—but that's impossible because the old man is 12,000 miles away in his mountain hermitage.

Outside in this frigid February midnight in the Adirondack Mountains, he discovers that the veil is thin, and the whole Lost Lake saga launches with Sahm's trip through the Bardo, and reconnection with the high calling he has left behind...as a Sakyong (Earth Protector).

Enter Dhani Singh Jones, a young man who has committed a heinous act of violence. How could he be trusted to protect anything or anyone?

Time of the Broken Eagle is populated with beautiful, wild creatures that need the help of Lost Lake's young people, who will learn the issues facing the environment and wildlife. What will happen to these threatened creatures - bears, otters, birds, salamanders—walks a knife-edge and depends on people awakening to their endangerment.

Two other young people—Claire and Ray-Ray—land in a wildlife rehabilitation group with Dhani, and soon discover that animals react strangely in his presence. Do they sense danger, or does he have a rare, empathic connection with wildlife that's needed to help them?

The survival trainer - a Marine veteran with a painful past—is sure Dhani is a fraud. While Sahm, who helps in the wildlife clinic, suspects his real past is not found in police records but is concealed in forgotten mists of past lifetimes.

Everyone at Lost Lake will wrestle with tough challenges and life-changing decisions to make—none more urgent than this: Is Dhani a dangerous con? Or is a force working through him to help save them all?

The coming of the broken eagle touches off events that will build to a dramatic climax on the edge of global disaster. All nature and humankind will be threatened by the rising danger, and as many as possible will need to be awakened to help stop the destruction.

Powers Rising

— Book Two —

DHANI SINGH JONES encounters a startling scene from a past life—or is it just another flight of imagination? If the experience is real, who was he before he arrived in this lifetime? And why is he being drawn into the minds of wild creatures?

More woodland animals are in dire need of treatment at Lost Lake's wildlife clinic. More golden salamanders, a female mountain lion thought to be extinct in the Adirondack Mountains. These creatures and others show up with strange afflictions. Josephe Rondeau, the wildlife vet begins sending bodies to the New York State lab, trying to determine if some environmental factor is causing the deformities and deaths of these beautiful, vulnerable animals.

Sahm's urgency to train Dhani rises, as his young protégé's consciousness and skills increase. He needs to act fast, because Dhani's unusual behavior causes someone to set him up for a fall. Sahm will be pressured to back away just when Dhani desperately needs him.

Likewise, Claire worries about Dhani, even as her own wariness of him grows. Does her friendship somehow encourage his strange behavior?

Ray-Ray also struggles with his close connection to Dhani. He senses Dhani is good, but his conservative upbringing makes him fear that Dhani's seemingly mystical abilities may arise from an evil source.

Meantime, in the dead of night, sneaking back from his covert business dealings, Garrett has a terrifying encounter on the Lost Lake camp road, and is trapped into an agreement he hates.

For months, tension builds all around, and everyone backs away from Dhani, eventually leaving him in a panic about his future at Lost Lake.

In this strained atmosphere, Steve Tanner's dislike of Dhani, ramped up by lies, builds toward an explosive confrontation.

Then, in a final, startling twist, Steve is rocked by a shocking truth about his wife Olivia's tragic death.

In Powers Rising, as conflict around Dhani intensifies, a few at Lost Lake start to feel a deeper connection with the wilderness and its beautiful creatures. Will it go deep enough to redirect the course of their troubled lives?

Fiery Wings

— Book Three —

A MYSTICAL ENCOUNTER between Dhani and a blue whale in its death throes ends in a warning signal sounded to the animal world—with more surprising revelations fast on its heels. And it becomes clear to Josephe Rondeau that someone at the New York State lab is purposely "losing" the bodies of wild creatures she has sent for autopsy and evaluation to determine the cause of their suspicious deaths.

Steve Tanner meets with an unsettling discovery during a highly-charged visit with the Washington, DC, police, launching an investigation into the mysteries surrounding Olivia's death. Painful news—about why she failed to meet him on time the day of her death—shakes Steve to the core.

Tony Wyoming, a veteran of the Marine Corp and now a DC detective, quickly gains Steve's trust—but immediately faces an official cover-up of details related to Olivia's murder. He finds himself pitted against a tangle of facts that make no sense and orders to discontinue his investigation.

Meanwhile, at Lost Lake, some of the young people connect more deeply with the wild creatures they're caring for—Rocco with a hunted and wrongly accused bear cub, Makayla and Jalil with gentle amphibious creatures that are mysteriously maimed and dying, and Ray-Ray with a feisty fledging blue jay that takes up residence outside his window after it's released from the clinic. Their exuberance to protect and save animals will soon make them powerful enemies.

As some of the students begin to awaken to the greater needs of the earth and its inhabitants, Sahm realizes he has others to train in their special life callings—if they will accept his guidance before old habits and voices drag them back into the lives they are trying to leave behind.

In a shocking conclusion, someone will disappear from Lost Lake without a trace—with Dhani as the only one who may be able to find them.

In Fiery Wings, as deadly conflicts increase, Dhani's true identity rocks him—then awakens him to his life's purpose. Likewise, others begin to find new paths in life. The question is, will they be able to counter the great forces at work against them?

Gathering of Tribes

— Book Four —

DHANI SINGH JONES is just about to take on a role he fulfilled during many lifetimes, as head of an ancient lineage of Earth Protectors. None too soon, because life on earth is heading toward a sixth mass extinction.

Only one big obstacle stands in his way. His heart.

Claire is missing. Law officers believe she’s a runaway delinquent, rebelling from authority. While their search goes wide, Dhani can hear Claire in his mind, saying she’s nearby, a captive of the man who took her. Trapped, injured from a fall, she doesn’t know her exact location. On the edge, Dhani charges out ill-prepared into the teeth of a deadly blizzard to find her.

While he fights for survival, other dramas spill out all around.

Jo Rondeau’s wildlife clinic is flooded with more animals suffering strange and terrible illnesses and deformities as she races to find the deadly source.

Sahm discovers that yet another guardian has come to raise up a new young leader at Lost Lake – the person least likely to lead anyone.

Startled by a vision revealed in lightning, Tia Leesha undergoes deep change, and decides to end petty divisions and pull Lost Lake’s four tribes together into a force for good in the world. With secret alliances and dark agendas already in-play, though, who will be with her and who will resist?

Back in Washington, DC, investigating the murder of Steve Tanner’s wife and child leads detective Tony Wyoming through more unexpected and dangerous turns. Each bend sheds greater light on a plot far more terrifying than he imagined. One of those turns will lead him into a deathtrap.

If the ending of Fiery Wings was a surprise, the final fast-turning pages of this segment in the Lost Lake series will stun you.

Time of the Predators

Dhani’s shocking act at the U.S. Capitol brings reporters flocking, wrecking the solitude of the Lost Lake wilderness. He will try to hide, but desperate needs pull on his compassion and drag his paranormal skills into play.

But unwanted pressure from the media is just the beginning of trouble.

An old adversary has serious questions about Kate and whether she is placing young people in harm’s way.
