Plant for the Planet.
Reforestation is one highly important strategy in the effort to curb global warming. Learn the details of how this works.
WHY REFORESTATION:
Trees absorb carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and return pure oxygen to it.
“That makes healthy forests ‘carbon sinks’,” the Washington Post article’s author, Ben Guarino, so aptly calls them. Why? “American vegetation [alone], according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, absorbed enough carbon dioxide to offset 11 percent of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2017.”
COMMENT:
While reducing carbon emissions is still a top goal, reforestation will help to clean the atmosphere, in turn helping reduce sicknesses caused by air pollution and allowing us all to breathe healthier.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The challenge is clear, but the great news is organizations are in place to help us all achieve a much cleaner atmosphere.
Plant for the Planet’s “Trillion Tree Campaign” is one great example of how we can all pull together—every one of us playing our own part to help clean and protect the atmosphere.
