One Earth to Protect.

Protecting Critical Habitat & Biodiversity.

WHY THESE ARTICLES ARE IMPORTANT:
Critical habitats are decreasing rapidly as public and private entities encroach on wild places, usually for profit. Carelessly destroying habitats has reduced wildlife populations, with many species seriously endangered and nearing extinction.

With the current rapid rate of extinction, we are in serious danger of losing many more species important to human survival.

There are many urgent reasons to stop habitat destruction.

Protecting critical habitats preserves biodiversity. In places where one (or more) species is wiped out, the whole ecosystem—not only other animals but plants, as well—sets off a chain of population crashes. Soon, a once vibrant habitat becomes a wasteland… to the detriment of all life.

COMMENT:
If we approach critical habitat protection and biodiversity purely from a human-centric position, we have ample reason for concern.

Wild habitats provide barriers that prevent the emergence of new diseases, and they greatly aid in the discovery of new medicines needed for human health and survival.

Also vital: Every habitat from tropical forests to coastlines have an important part to play in the fight against climate change and the increase in dangerous, destructive weather.
