Snowy Owl

Dhani had this crazy encounter with a snowy owl that got knocked out of the air by a peregrine falcon. It had landed in a small tree on the side of a cliff, and Dhani climbed out on it to rescue the owl before it lost its grip and fell to its death. I watched the whole thing, terrified the tree roots were going to let go and they were both going to die.

Here's the thing. Later when we got back to the aviary and Jo had taken care of the owl's injuries, I watched Dhani. He was staring directly into the owl's eyes and it was staring right back. It was like they were connected.

I wish I knew what was going on between Dhani and the animals. It's like they have a secret way of communicating or something. If I mention that to Dhani, he gets all defensive and weird acting. Which is how I know something is happening.

Jo says that snowy owls are migrating further and further south because of big changes in the environment. When she said that, Steve Tanner just rolled his eyes. How does she put up with him being around her?

I hope Jo is right and the owl makes a full recovery. It's beautiful and needs to be gliding silently through the forests and mountains again.
