Ancient Eagle.
Eagle Petroglyph
Sahm showed me this ancient rock painting, called a petroglyph, that's hidden on the far side of the huge boulder next to his cabin.
Randy Wolfmoon, our climbing instructor, told Sahm that his people, the Mohawks, painted it maybe a thousand years ago and the spot is sacred to them. Both Sahm and Randy say they've felt vibrations from this image. I don't know about that. But then, why would they lie?
Once, I climbed up on the boulder and was just sitting there sketching. I started thinking about the young eagle in the aviary, that won't fly. Jo says it just fell out of the sky and she found it on the camp road. It's the strangest thing. There's nothing wrong with it at all. It just won't fly.
Sahm thinks the eagle is a portent—a sign that something really big and important is about to happen in the world and here at Lost Lake.
I wonder if that's true and what it could be.
