Lost Lake from Thunder Rock

The path up to Thunder Falls can be icy and a little dangerous even in the fall. That's because a snow squall can show up out of nowhere.

I wasn't supposed to go up to the falls on my own. No one is. But I love the solitude and the sound of the waterfall, and so I did one day.

Once I got there, I climbed up on Thunder Rock. The view of Lost Lake below is amazing. I know Kate owns thousands of acres of wilderness, and you can see a lot of it from up there.

That day, a storm was moving in and snow was starting to fall, and I had to sketch as fast as I could. I also didn't want to get caught and be in trouble because I'd snuck up here. I don't think of myself as a rebel. I'm just independent. Besides that, I've had to take care of myself for so long, I really don't need people telling what to do and not do. I'm good on my own.

There's something about Thunder Rock and the waterfalls. It feels like dramatic things could happen there.
