Path of Stars.

Starry Night

Sometimes when I can’t sleep, I slip out on the porch of my cabin, or walk along the lake, and just look up at the night sky. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before—like it’s on fire.

Grady told me it’s because there’s no light pollution out here in the mountains.

Most nights it’s also so quiet you can hear the smallest sound, like a twig snapping all the way across the lake or a fish jumping at mosquitoes way out in the middle.

There have been a few nights when I’ve even heard someone walking along the camp road. I think it could be Garrett and someone else. (Dugan maybe?) What they’re up to, I can only imagine.

Or—come on, Claire—maybe like me they just can’t sleep and they’re out for walk. The sky above the road would be so bright you could easily see your way as it runs through the woods toward the road to town.
