Blue Jay

Interesting how different people here are connecting with different animals. Ray-Ray is totally about this young blue jay whose wing got punctured by a cat bite. When we're in the aviary, cleaning cages, feeding the "patients", as Jo calls them, Ray-Ray stops and talks to this little guy. And I know he comes back in here alone to hang out.

Jo let it slip that birds who get bitten by other animals have a high likelihood of dying. I guess they get infected.

Lord, I hope not for Ray-Ray's sake. He's already thinking about a nickname for this bird—maybe a rapper kind of name like Lil Badass. That's interesting since Ray-Ray never ever uses "bad words". (Makes me kind of laugh, because we're not supposed to swear here, but a few people do when no adults are around.)

Truthfully, if I had to bet on an animal recovering totally after it's been attacked and nearly wrecked, I'd put money on this guy. Feisty with a capital F.
