Meet Randy.
Randy Wolfmoon
Randy Wolfmoon is a chaperone and field helper on our hikes and campouts. He’s going to teach us rock climbing, too. I’m super excited about that.
I’ve heard that he was pretty wild when he was younger. Into drugs, mainly. Seems like he really cleaned up his act, because he’s very calm and steady now and says he doesn’t even drink.
Anyway, he’s very supportive. He helps us when we have outdoor survival tasks to do and really encourages everyone. I need that because I don’t know what I’m doing, and while I love the outdoors I’m not the woods woman type.
The one thing that really bothers me about Randy is that he gave Dhani a supposedly “magic” eagle feather that was passed down through generations in his family from many grandfathers who were medicine men in the Mohawk tribe.
The thing is, though, I don’t think Dhani should be encouraged to believe in magic or believe that feathers or any other mystical objects can communicate with him. It’s disturbing enough that Dhani confided in me he thinks he hears birds talking to him while we’re working in the aviary.
Maybe I’m just a suspicious person, but – no wait, I am a suspicious person. I just hope Randy’s not playing Dhani somehow. I want to keep believing he’s just a really good guy, like he seems to be.
